Farmers in Embu are warning there may be a shortage of macadamia nuts in the region early next year, owing to the purchase of nuts before their maturity by unscrupulous middlemen. A number of farmers in the region are selling their harvests to get their hands on quick cash and in the process losing out on much better prices that their produce would have fetched had they sold it when mature.
